Teri Nelson Teri graduated from Colorado State University with a
bachelor's degree in Music Therapy in 1989. She completed her clinical
internship at Travis State School in Austin, Texas. During this time,
she worked with individuals in group and private settings with highly
varied types and degrees of physical, developmental and
emotional/behavioral disabilities.
In 1990, Teri returned to Colorado to establish
a private practice and join the Music Therapy staff at Colorado State
University as an adjunct faculty member. She served as practicum
supervisor for music therapy students-- securing "in field" sites for
music therapy; demonstrating and teaching music therapy skills and
techniques; and monitoring and evaluating student progress.
In private practice, in Colorado and in the
Huntsville/Madison area, Teri has developed music therapy programs for
neurological speech rehabilitation, autism, developmental and physical
disabilities, long-term psychiatrics, geriatrics, and Alzheimer's.
Programs include assessing therapeutic needs, establishing goals and
objectives, conducting music therapy sessions, and evaluating clinical
change. She has worked in long term care facilities, public schools,
group homes and assisted living centers.
Teri studies voice with Dr. Ginger Beazley and
has performed in many local theater and musical productions. She has
taught musical theater and audition classes in the Huntsville area and
also teaches developmental music at Play Domain Preschool in Madison. |
